Parents are meant to be protective of their children.

Whether it’s a first step or a first date – a caring parent is always there to make sure nothing happens to their precious boy or girl. Then comes the time where they have a license in-hand, and ask for the car keys on a weekly – no, daily – no, hourly basis. There’s no watching over them once they’ve left the driveway, which is every parent’s nightmare…that is until now. Chevrolet recently developed their Teen Driver Technology, and it will offer peace-of-mind and a good night’s sleep to so many.

Like a snowflake, no Teen is alike – so it’s not fair to group them all together. However, studies show that many make poor decisions like not fastening their seat belts and speeding. In fact, only 55% of high-school students wear seat belts when riding with someone else, and roughly 93% play loud music when behind the wheel. This is where Teen Driver shines…

First off, the teen driver is given a special key fob which is programmed to engage the Teen Driver vehicle settings. Some of these settings include a maximum volume limit and a speed warning, which is anywhere between 40 and 75 mph. Once inside, both the Radio and Audio features are turned off until the seat belt is fastened. All active safety features found in the vehicle are automatically turned on and can not be turned off. If the teen exceeds the set speed limit, they will be alerted with a visual and audible warning.

Curious how they were REALLY driving? The Report Card will show everything from:

– Distance Driven
– Max Speed Reached
– Stability Control Events
– Antilock Brake Events
– Forward Collision Alerts (if applicable)
– Forward Collision Avoidance Braking Events (if applicable)
